Little Shames

Labels? I don't understand...

Why are labels sos complicated? Do I put commas after each one? Has my labels just been coming off as one big label?

And I'm not just talking about the labels we put on posts, I'm also talking about the labels we give each other. What makes anyone think they have the right to give a person a label? I'm not saying that I'm not like that, I am too, everyone is. Whether we think someone is cute, ugly, nice, sweet, mean, bitchy, a dick, douche, sweet heart, lovely, competent, smart, crazy, stupid, a human, etc.

These are all labels, and whether we like to believe it or not, we do label people. We put them into categories. Our friends, and our not friends. Our families, and our neighbors. Our teachers, and our peers.

It's what we do as humans, and we can't do anything to stop it, for that is how we find people we like. We are creatures of flocks, we like company. Categorizing is how we find our mate and our maties.

Little Shames

Your words, they burn.
Make my stomach turn.
You don't see,
What you're doing to me.

I'm slowed down by your names,
Your little shames.

Shackles around my feet,
I trudge in defeat.
You can't see,
All that is me.

I'm pulled under by the names,
So many little shames.

Plastered to me,
Like the disease of insanity.
Telling me to give in,
I'm already guilty of the sin.

I'm drowned by the names,
They are my little shames.

Labels, like duct tape.
Oh, how they give shape,
To the monster inside of me,
The one you can't see.

I'm dragged down by the monster of names,
Made from the little shames.

Going to try that comma thing, see how that works.
